1)There's a huge amount of money to be saved on your mortgage payment. Making just one more payment per year (13 instead of 12, for instance) can save you thousands and thousands of dollars in interest payments and allow you to pay off your mortgage years earlier. Talk to your banker and see if you can set something up.
2) Shop at surplus stores and save tens or even hundreds of dollars on clothes and other items. Sometimes you can find brand name clothes with tags still on them for huge discounts.
3)Comparison shopping can save you quite a bit of money on a specific item that you want. The hour or so you spend finding the best deal in town or on the internet might save you the equivalent of money that it took to earn in two hours at your job.
4) Don't worry about having the latest model or the newest thing. Buy what you can afford and make it beautiful. Get some old furniture and make it "your own" buy painting it, maybe with a cool design. Buy a functional, nice car that's a few years old and this could save you thousands upon thousands of dollars while still having a great car that will last quite a number of years.
5)Save money on electricity by turning off lights when you leave the room, getting energy efficient light bulbs, and not setting your air conditioner to low or your heater too high. This will not only save you money but is good for the environment as well!
6)Sell stuff that you don't need, don't just throw it away. If you are trying to clean up clutter that's good, but always remember that somebody else might want the stuff. You could try listing all the stuff on ebay either separately, or as a bundle... and you might just get a tidy some from your "garbage" Remember, one person's trash is another's treasure!
7) Don't shop when you are hungry or stressed. People who are stressed out or hungry tend to buy more at stores. When you are unstressed, you make better decisions in life and this applies to shopping as well.
8)Go to dollar stores and save money. Often times you can find brand name stuff that sells for way below what ordinary stores charge. You can also settle for off brand merchandise to save even more. Often times off brand stuff does the same job for things like washing clothes or getting your hair clean and you don't have to tell anybody.
9)Refinance. You've probably heard it before, but just cutting your interest rate can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars. If you have loans on your credit cards or other non-secured debt you can try to get a loan at a much lower interest rate and consolidate all the bills into one payment at a lower cost. Not only does this save you money but eliminates much of the stress of paying bills. Then, just make sure you don't live beyond your means.
10) Consider giving away things you don't want to others. They might like it and give you something that you want "down the road." Besides, it will make you feel good without costing you anything.
