1) When going to a ball game, the cost of refreshments and food can be quite expensive. Besides you have to miss part of the game to stand in lines to by the overpriced food. Instead, bring in your own cooler of food. Not only do you save quite a bit of money, but you can bring the foods that you most enjoy!
2)The same principle can be applied to movies. If you like popcorn and candy, you can pop popcorn yourself for next to nothing at home, stick it in a bag, and put it in your purse or jacket, and save four dollars on popcorn. The same principle can be applied to candy. Candy at a supermarket is often half the price of candy at the movie theatres. Also, if you schedule a matinee, you might save fourty percent off of a regular admission ticket.
3)Find Free Entertainment. Find a local poetry or book reading at a coffee shop or book store. Look for "concerts in the park." Look out for free exercise or meditation classes.
4)Look into cutting back on eating out. Also, find two for one coupons in your newspaper ... and try a new Restaurant! While this may not be the most romantic thing to do on the first or second date, it can save you quite a bit when you do go out. Also, if your eating out... drinks can run up a bill. If you limit yourself to one drink you'll save money. You can always through back a couple more beers once you get home and are relaxing from your meal.
5) Drinking and smoking. Both of these are costly activities. Avoid going out to a bar whenever possible. Instead look for alternate social activities. You can always keep a six pack in your fridge and have a beer every so often to relax. Also, smoking has become very expensive. With a pack of cigarretes running upwards of five dollars a pack, cutting down or eliminating smoking altogether can be a great way to save money. One way to cut down on smoking is to find a hobby that you really enjoy. Often doing something that you love will cut down on your thinking about smoking.
6) Enjoy the outdoors instead of buying things. Often, just going outside and enjoying the fresh air at a park will allow you to appreciate life more, and you will not feel the need to buy so much.
7) Buy used movies instead of new ones. You can often find used, discounted movies for a fraction of the cost at your local video store, Also, you can get them online on sites like ebay. Buy in bulk and save even more!
8) Take vacations close to home. There are usually places that you have never been even within your own state that offer an excitement and beauty and history that you can experience. Not only will you save money on vacations, but you will get to learn more about your own history and people.
9)Find freebies online. There are tons of product samples to try, and many sites offer a wide selection from various companies. Just look up "freebies" on one of the major search engines. It's a fun thing to do every once in a while, And it's exciting when something useful comes in the mail that you didn't have to pay for!
10) Get a coupon book. These often might cost you 25 dollars to start, but they give you all kinds of coupons for "two-for-one" for restaurants, entertainment parks, and discounts on movies, etc. If you use them diligently, you can save hundreds of dollars per year and do things that you have never done before!
